Well its fair to say that things started to come together in the late eighties / early nineties with the birth of the Urban Rockers Sound System. Through the love of the music we started to put on shows and sound clashes with the likes of the Burnin Sound HiFi. At this time solid contacts were being made along the way and musical collaborations started to shape up. The live circuit was looking healthy and a nice scene was developing that not only offered great sounds, but also stood up and gave a voice to some of the social injustices of the times.
Through these collaborations and from the mid ninties and onwards, bands were formed with various line-ups and singers, and albums were recorded and promoted on various tours to enthusiastic crowds. The bands included Freedom Fighter and Freedom AKA, playing alongside the likes of RDF, Revolutionairy Dub Warriors, Asian Dub Foundation, Back to the Planet, Tabaruk, Rhythmites, Bush-Fire, The Dub Poets and Zion Train to name a few. After a time, the love of studio work started to out shine the day to day runnings of band life with all its good, bad and indifferences and the constraints that bands can bring.
So without band duties and touring schedules to cloud the issue, more time was spent in the studio exploring new sounds and musical fusions, new technology and new equipment with fresh collaborations starting to bloom with the likes of Brinsley Forde, Mikey Dread, Neville Staple, Professor Frisky, Braveheart and Barrington Turner to name a few. The results of which can be heard from The Roots Reality stable of artists and collaborators.
Having spent the early part of the millenium working with artists as far a field as Jamaica, America, Ireland and London, we have recently focused a lot of time to working with artists and collaborators closer to home, in the rural refines of Southern England and the West Country. Our musical journey continues as the Roots Reality stable expands.
